Description
The bronze masterpiece was discovered in pieces in 1541, in the garden of the San Lorenzo Church in Arezzo. In 1551 was bought by Cosimo I de’ Medici that made it restored to keep it in his studio. Then in 1782 it was taken at the Uffizi Gallery, and in 1890 to the Archeological Museum of Florence.
Is a beautiful example of Etruscan lost wax casting or probably a Roman copy of the I century b.C. of it.
The mold used to execute the bronze work using the lost-wax casting process was produced directly by Ferdinando Marinelli Sr., and is currently in the collection of the Fonderia Artistica Ferdinando Marinelli
