Description

Donatello sculpted and cast his Attis between 1440 and 1443. The bronze still has traces of the original gilding. It’s at the Bargello Museum of Florence.
Donatello created this dancing Cupid that steps on a snake with others symbolic attributes nor yet completely understood.
The mold used to execute the bronze work using the lost-wax casting process was produced directly on the original in 1938 by Ferdinando Marinelli Sr., and is currently in the collection of the Fonderia Artistica Ferdinando Marinelli
